The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum
The top robot vacuums that self-empty have a base which holds a full month's worth debris and then empty it automatically. It also creates a precise map of your home and allows you to label rooms as well as create "no-go" zones.
It has superior obstacle avoidance capabilities, as well, so it will keep out of power cords and rogue socks.
Roomba s9+ iRobot from iRobot
This is among the best models offered by iRobot and certainly performs well. It can easily maneuver across a range of different surfaces and is highly efficient in taking in dust, dirt, and debris. It's also well-constructed and looks pretty nice too.
The S9 is the latest model from iRobot's premium S Series robot vacuum. It boasts a few extra features that help it different from other models. For example the iRobot app makes use of the camera in this unit to create an interactive map of your home which allows it to in cleaning and navigation.
It's not necessary to clean the same spots again when the battery is exhausted. You can also start cleaning sessions and stop them with an easy voice command or using the iRobot app. This smart vacuum can also clean in the dark!
Carpet Boost is another great feature. It gives the S9 more suction power when it comes in contact with carpeting, so it can pick up even more dirt. The unit is an open-front design that lets it get closer to corners and walls than the older round designs. Be aware that this model doesn't do well with shag or high-pile carpeting.
In our tests, we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleaned thoroughly and efficiently a variety of floor surfaces, including hard and medium-pile carpets. It also did well on tiles, laminate floors, and vinyl flooring. It did a great job of navigating furniture and objects, however it did have some issues with stairs where it could accidentally crash into bookcases.
We liked the feature that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its trash bin when it's full, which significantly minimizes the need to be hands-on with maintenance. Its dust bag is expected to last for about 30 loads, which is about a month or two, and you'll have to replace the filter once every few months (which is actually recommended by iRobot). In our experience, the iRobot S9+ doesn't get very loud during operation, so it's a good choice for people who live with kids or pets.
Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid
Created to remove one of the most tedious tasks off your hands, robotic vacuum cleaners do all the work and get carpeted and hardwood floors clear of everyday dirt. Certain robot vacuum cleaners can be controlled by a smartphone application, while others come with mopping technology to kitchen and bathroom flooring. They're a great choice for busy families, and they are becoming more affordable. If you're looking for the most advanced technology in your robotic vacuum cleaner and you're looking to pay a little more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is a fantastic option for those who live in a multi-floored home. The vacuum's 0.6l bin can hold a lot of pet hair. Its dual motors offer impressive cleaning power. The dustbin can be easily removed and empty, which is great because you'll need to do this on a regular basis.
It's easy to set it up too, although I recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. Once you've done this the app will help you to create a detailed map of your home. You can label rooms and divide rooms into sub-rooms (good for open plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that require cleaning at the time of. Eufy's application is more user-friendly and refined than other robots that have similar scanning and mapping functions.
A great feature on the X8 Hybrid is that you can start the vacuum or mop with your voice, thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice feature that makes the robot more hands-free. It also is working well in our test home.
The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums, has a few issues with flooring that is not clean. It is prone to miss fur and small objects and is known to knock things like its charger on the charging platform. It's not as quiet as other models we've tested, and the whirring sounds can be distracting.
Roborock V3S Pro
This model isn't as feature-rich as some of the more expensive models we tested however, it does have all the essentials. It has a huge dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt before needing to be emptied. The vacuum and mop system is great for hard floors and carpets with low pile. It's also extremely quiet. We could watch the TV while it was cleaning without feeling as though we were being constantly bombarded by noise.
Our test subjects were impressed with how easy it was to set up and use, and they were amazed by its ability to get all the mess out of their flooring. It did a good job picking up pet hair, messes and carpeting however it had a harder time removing stubborn stains. The app was simple to use and easy to understand. They were able set up the vacuum to clean regularly to minimize the amount of manual work. The only drawback is that it does not have any mapping technology or object avoidance, which means you can't send it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).
The V3S Pro is another model in iRobot’s affordable line. It has several impressive features for an affordable cost. It topped all other robotic vacuums we tested when it comes to mapping and avoiding obstacles, and it's the perfect option for those who want a smarter self-emptying robot vacuum that is able to handle pet hair and messes on carpeting and hardwood floors. It's also extremely quiet and comes with a large dust bin which can hold a lot before it's time to empty it.
The V3S Pro did not make it onto any of our top picks lists of trusted sources who test hands-on, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They liked the ease with which it was install and use, however they did note that its battery life was very short and it was unable to avoid some of the most stubborn problems we've encountered.
Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo is an entry-level robot mop and vacuum that comes with a variety of top robot vacuum features for a low cost. You'll find many of the features you find on high-end models, including intelligent navigation and mapping, all without spending top dollar. You can utilize voice commands with Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Siri shortcuts for custom automations, and also to start your cleaning process when you're away.
Roborock has taken its time creating this clever cleaner. As a result, the product is extremely solid and feels like it was made with premium materials. Its base is strong and stable, with an integrated charging port for the battery. On the top is the dock for the clean water tank and dirty water bins. Below, you'll find an enclosure that houses the vacuum bag sealed.
After you have connected your device to the application, you'll see a 2D and 3D map of your home that will show you where your robot is located at any given moment and the area it is cleaning. You can also build virtual barriers to keep your robot out of certain areas or only clean certain kinds of flooring. It can also adjust its power settings according to the type of floor being cleaned and choose the most effective cleaning method.
In contrast to other robot vacuums that are available, the Q Revo is able to lift up both of its mops as it vacuums to prevent staining your carpet fibres. In fact, it's one of the few vacuums on market that can do this.
When mopping, the Q Revo's 5500Pa suction powers are sufficient to remove dust particles and pet hair strands and other particles. The all-rubber brush can be perfect for dissolving hair from animals and humans and also adapting to uneven surfaces.
Its only drawback is that it does take some time to fill and empty water tanks that are clean and dirty. You can cut down on the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature that will empty the bins automatically after a few days. It is still necessary to check the level of water on the dock manually though, as there isn't an automatic reminder.
